BHK

A note from L.T. and Dan

Blind Horse Knives are designed to be working knives. These are quality pieces that you would be proud to pass down generation to generation. All Work Horse series knives have a serial number and the owners registry can be found on this site. If you have a favorite number, lodge number or lucky number this would be a great way to apply it to your knife. We enjoy talking to the owners. Their stories about using our knives influences every
BHK design.
Welcome to the

Hedge Hog Leather Works

On a brisk fall day in 2005, I was spending a weekend in the wilderness practicing my survival skills. After gathering materials to construct a bow drill fire device, I sat down and watched the sun sink behind the hills as the air became bone chilling cold. It was time to work. I reached back to grab my survival knife, but only found the empty plastic sheath. The knife had fallen out somewhere during my hike. My heart sank. That night I endured bitter cold and a growling stomach all while lacking the most critical survival tool. That's when I decided to build a better sheath. The next week, I transformed my 9'x12' college dorm room into a make-shift leather workshop. Countless hours later I had the first working prototype, and Hedgehog Leatherworks was born.

Doug Ritter

Doug is a professional freelance writer and editor. He has written for a number of publications and does corporate writing in areas other than those he covers as a journalist. His principal focus for magazine work is general and military aviation and marine safety and survival. Of late, he is spending less time writing for others and more time developing the Equipped To Survive Foundation and in designing his own line of survival gear.

FPLRG

The Fort Pitt Land Rover Group (FPLRG) was formed in 1996 after Scott Wickham, Jon Humphrey, and Russ Wilson went to "The Mighty Oak" bar for a few cold ones after retrieving Scott's new-used Series III 88" from a hill side in McKeesport.
